Experience what it was like to be a miner back in the day at this historic gold mine, 1000 feet underground.
A very worthwhile tour of an old gold mine in Cripple Creek. Not for the claustrophobic, though, as you ride a double-floor cage elevator in uncomfortably close proximity with 6 people in the cage on each floor, just like the miners did back in the day. It’s a two-minute ride down 1000 feet, and then a very comfortable guided walking tour through the mine. Great displays show the history and advancement of technology in gold mining, as well as stories of some of the miners. We thought it was just going to be a tourist trap, but it was really an interesting adventure.
